Blog Post # 9 Coltrane

Fathers are becoming more involved in child development due to the fact that the care for the child has to be equally divided between the father and the mother.  Income is associated with the father's involvement in child development. The mother having to work as well as the father increases the father's involvement in child development. The parent's equally divide the child care since they both have to work therefore the father gets to spend more time with the child. As the author stated "when financial stability is hard to achieve fathers only minimally with their children may be seen as good fathers because they work hard to provide financially."(437) This statement is influential for the child's future life chances. Research states that Adolescents with involved fathers are more likely to have positive development outcomes.

  1. This is a good post which directly responds to the assignment. And you did a great job in the MLA documentation of Coltrane's article. But remember to follow the MLA format for in-text citations. Also, provide a reason for your claim regarding fathers, not father's, becoming more involved in raising children.
